Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”
He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.
The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”
What does this teach us?
If we trust and rely on Him, even if things are falling apart in our lives, we can have the peace that God gives in all understanding. That when we see that things are falling apart in our lives around us like kids getting into drugs or alcohol, death in the family, loss of job or illness, etc. If we trust and rely on Him, we can have peace. The little bit of time we are here doesn’t mean anything with the exception of our words and deeds that we do here on Earth.
What does this mean?
The example of being in perfect peace with God, no matter what trials and tribulations you may be going through is something we need to look forward to. If we strive to follow God in his word and we confess our sins and confront our flesh, when we are devil-minded and need to repent, we need to go back to God.
What can we learn from this?
Despite the storms that come upon us, we need to get back with God. Don’t let the situations around us dictate our actions when we believe all hope is lost because when we have Jesus by our side, we have peace.
If we do what’s right, we can be resting in his arms securely. Remember that God sees what’s going on and do not falter in your faith.
